The earrings are half-circles of brilliant-cut diamonds set in 18 carat white gold.  They were designed to provide all the impact of full-circle earrings without the drag that such a weight would have on the earlobes.  Intended to be worn day or night, they are comfortable to wear from early in the morning till late at night.  The ring is studded with a quantity of brilliant-cut white diamonds and set in 18 carat white gold.  Art Nouveau, it is exceedingly stylish and versatile, a design of this nature affording far more opportunities for wear than a more contemporary diamond ring would.  The Art Deco bracelet is a classic in brilliant-cut white diamonds set in 18 carat white gold whose design has inspired jewellers as varied as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels  for nearly a century.

"It is extraordinary how useful those half-circle earrings are," Lady Colin Campbell says.  "Because they are large enough to have importance, but possess the informality that are an intrinsic part of all circular or semi-circular earrings, I sometimes wear them when I am going to be out from midday to midnight.  They really are the ideal 'carry-through' earrings:  tasteful enough for daylight but glamorous in the evening as well.  If I had to be restricted to three pairs of earrings, I would opt for these as one of the three.  Notwithstanding the fact that they are diamonds, and according to the received wisdom of arbiters of good taste should therefore be worn less frequently than most other stones, the execution of the design makes them so wearable that one can use them with jeans or an evening dress and still be appropriately accoutred.

"The same is true of the Art Nouveau ring.  I often wear it out to lunch with jeans or cords.  I wear it in the country.  I have frequently worn it to Royal Ascot, and even wore it to the wedding of the present Duke and Duchess of Bedford. That's because the importance of the piece lies in the design of the ring, which is executed with tremendous élan.  The fact that the stones are diamonds is almost incidental, though of course by virtue of being what they are they possess innate cachet.  I would have to say that if I were made to limit my rings to five, this would undoubtedly be one of them.   No other ring that I have possesses the range of possibilities that this one does.

"The word classic is frequently overused, but not in this instance.  This bracelet is truly a classic.  In jewellery terms, it is the Rolls Royce of its genre - elegant, stylish, beautiful, striking and discreet all at the same time.  Although I seldom wear it in the day - I have worn it to Royal Ascot once or twice, and  to Lord and Lady Sudeley's wedding - it is perfect in the evening.  Whether one is going to a royal ball, a gala concert, an elegant drinks party, to dinner with friends, or even to a discotheque in a resort like Ocho Rios in Jamaica or Lorgues in the South of France, it is the ideal piece of jewellery to wear on one's wrist."
