This Sunflower brooch, consisting of a quantity of diamonds, hails from the 1930s and is set in platinum.
"This is one of my favourite brooches," Lady Colin Campbell says. "Its design is so bang-up-to-the-minute, with the stones so discreetly placed that one can wear it on the lapel of a coat or suit in the day or on a more dressy item in the evening without looking out-of-place. Because it is rather large, measuring some five inches in length, it also makes a great showing. Those pre-War jewellers certainly knew how to make jewellery that was at the same time restrained and striking, an art which we today sometimes seem in danger of losing."
A brooch similar in design and execution with a similar number of diamonds of a similar size starts at £18,400.
