Lady Colin Campbell says, "Peridot is my birth sign and I love it because it is such a beautiful colour. It is also complimentary to most skin tones. I used to wear those earrings only at night, but in the last couple of years, now that long drops are worn in daytime, I have taken to wearing them in the day as well. They are funky enough to go well with very casual wear, but dramatic enough to also go well with classical attire. The joy of wearing jewellery today is that all the old rules have collapsed, giving way to new and exciting opportunities which simply never existed before.
"Brooches have been making a steady comeback in fashionable circles in recent years, after a period of relative unpopularity. I am delighted, because I have always liked brooches. They offset an outfit so well. The peacock brooch is highly decorative, because it can be worn day or night. I sometimes secure scarves with it, or just wear it on a dress or jacket.
"The emerald and pearl necklace is really a great fun item. Although I usually wear it informally, I have occasionally worn it with ball gowns and serious emeralds. In fact, I was photographed in 1997 in a Tomas Starzewski couture ball gown by Hello Magazine wearing it with the Royal Portuguese emerald and diamond tiara. The photographer captured the mood perfectly by posing me perched on the back of a sofa: a stylish blend of formal and informal, classical and contemporary, serious and fun.
"I often wear the peridot ring with other peridots, usually in the day or informally, though I do sometimes wear it with the peridot snail brooch (featured elsewhere) when I want to elevate the importance of the whole and make a splash."
